Vinland Saga, the anime series based on Makoto Yukimura’s manga of the same name, returns to Netflix and Crunchyroll on January 9 for global release. MAPPA is taking over animation duties from Wit Studio, with the main staff returning for season 2.

The series is slated to follow the Slave Arc, which is known as Ketil’s Farm in the manga, where Thorfinn gets enslaved on a Danish farm after attacking King Canute for killing Askeladd.

Release Date

The much-anticipated second season of Vinland Saga is set to premiere in January 2023. This historical anime is based on the manga of the same name by Japanese author Makoto Yukimura and is a favorite among fans worldwide.

The first season of the series, which aired from July 2019 to December 2019, adapts the Slave Arc of the manga. It tells the story of a warrior, Thorfinn, who swears revenge against Askeladd for killing his father years ago.

However, he finds himself enslaved on the farm of Ketil in Jutland, Denmark. This arc is very different from the action-filled War Arc, as it shows a new side of Thorfinn’s character and explores his anguish of being an enslaved person.

Based on the preview of episode 6, fans can expect the series to focus on Einar and Thorfinn again as they struggle through a life of slavery in Denmark. It also seems that the time-skip that affected Canute during his story will be applied to both Einar and Thorfinn as well.

Synopsis

Vinland Saga is an anime that has become quite popular in recent years, based on an award-winning manga by Makoto Yukimura. It combines two plotlines, the first involving warrior Thorfinn’s journey for revenge against those who killed his father and King Cnut the Great’s empire, while the second involves another era of Viking history.

Season 1 was animated by WIT Studio and it received a lot of praise. Now the series is slated to be remade by MAPPA.

MAPPA is better known for producing anime shows like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, so it’s going to be quite exciting to see them do an adaptation of Vinland Saga.

The second season will adapt the Slave Arc of the manga, which sees Thorfinn losing his only goal in life after Askeladd is killed. This leads to him being enslaved, but he meets a fellow slave named Einar who helps him find a new purpose in life. Meanwhile, King Canute will focus on conquering new territories to bring the promised land to his people.

Cast

Vinland Saga is one of the most praised anime series in recent years due to its unusual plot lines and stunning visuals. Its first season was released in 2019, and it sparked a lot of interest among fans worldwide.

The first season of Vinland Saga revolved around the adventures of Thorfinn and his quest to find his father’s killer, Askeladd. As a young boy, Thorfinn witnessed his father’s death at the hands of Askeladd and his men.

After that, he started following Askeladd to get his revenge. However, in the end, he got enslaved for attacking Prince Canute, who killed Askeladd and took away his opportunity to kill him.

Despite being enslaved, Thorfinn still has a strong will to survive. He is able to find a purpose in his life as he works on Ketil’s farm and becomes close with his fellow slave, Einar. As the show progresses, viewers will see how he evolves from an unmotivated kid to a reformed hero.

Trailer

The first season of Vinland Saga was a sensation, and now that its second season is nearly upon us, we’re all excited to see how the series will progress. This trailer is the first look at the show’s next chapter, and it looks gorgeous!

Vinland Saga is a historical adventure manga-anime based on author Makoto Yukimura’s story. Its unique setting – Viking Danish control over medieval England – has made it one of the most talked about anime in recent memory.

In Season 1 we saw Thorfinn battle his murderer Askeladd and avenge his father’s death. But now, with Askeladd dead and the rage he fueled all of his life snuffed out by Canute, Thorfinn finds himself a broken man on Ketil’s farm back in Scandinavia. Having no reason to live, he’s lost his will to fight.
