Vinland Saga, the anime series based on Makoto Yukimura’s manga of the same name, returns to Netflix and Crunchyroll on January 9 for global release. MAPPA is taking over animation duties from Wit Studio, with the main staff returning for season 2.
The series is slated to follow the Slave Arc, which is known as Ketil’s Farm in the manga, where Thorfinn gets enslaved on a Danish farm after attacking King Canute for killing Askeladd.
Release Date
The much-anticipated second season of Vinland Saga is set to premiere in January 2023. This historical anime is based on the manga of the same name by Japanese author Makoto Yukimura and is a favorite among fans worldwide.
The first season of the series, which aired from July 2019 to December 2019, adapts the Slave Arc of the manga. It tells the story of a warrior, Thorfinn, who swears revenge against Askeladd for killing his father years ago.
However, he finds himself enslaved on the farm of Ketil in Jutland, Denmark. This arc is very different from the action-filled War Arc, as it shows a new side of Thorfinn’s character and explores his anguish of being an enslaved person.
Based on the preview of episode 6, fans can expect the series to focus on Einar and Thorfinn again as they struggle through a life of slavery in Denmark. It also seems that the time-skip that affected Canute during his story will be applied to both Einar and Thorfinn as well.
