Farming Life in Another World (Isekai Nonbiri Nouka) follows a middle-aged man who is transported to a fantasy world. He has only one wish, and that’s to become a farmer.
It’s an intriguing premise that might make it stand out among the many isekai titles that will debut next Winter 2023 season. It’s also a nice mix of isekai and the iyashikei (Yu shiXi – healing) subgenre of slice-of-life anime series, which will help to keep casual fans engaged.
The Story
When Machio Hiraku, a 39-year-old man who has fought a terminal illness for the past decade, dies, a godlike figure decides to give him a chance to live in a new world. With a few simple wishes, Hiraku’s life is transformed into a peaceful existence.
He soon finds himself transported to a forest, seemingly miles away from any civilization. However, Hiraku has a dream: to build a farm from the ground up, gradually developing it into a thriving community.
To accomplish his goal, Hiraku is bestowed with a mighty farming tool that can transform into any useful implement he needs. With the help of a few elves, Hiraku begins to tame the land and plant a variety of crops.
Along the way, he meets a variety of local girls. Whether or not they make the series into a harem remains to be seen, but fans should enjoy meeting plenty of cute, colorful anime girls as they help Hiraku grow his farm.
The Characters
After dying, Hiraku Machio reincarnates in a quaint isekai world and gets an almighty farming tool. He tries to settle into life, but he soon ends up surrounded by people he never expected to meet.
The anime follows Hiraku as he learns the ins and outs of running a farm and helps his new friends grow their crops. The farm is a thriving one, and Hiraku grows crops like corn, cabbage and apples.
In the process, he meets a lot of charming girls, many of whom he befriends. He soon begins to form a harem, but it’s not clear whether this is a wholesome or raunchier harem.
The Farming Life in Another World anime is set to premiere on January 6. The series is based on the light novel series by Kinosuke Naito, illustrated by Yasumo (Banished from the Heroes’ Party), and has a manga adaptation by Yasuyuki Tsurugi. The anime is directed by Ryoichi Kuraya and animated by Studio Zero-G.
